Manifest the “ideal you” living your “ideal life” using a LifeVision.

What is a LifeVision?
In 2 words it’s about Clarity & Focus.

CLARITY: A minutely detailed declaration of intent/personal mission statement that includes the 5 key areas of your life: your relationships (family and social), your spirituality, your physical fitness, your financial/professional life, and your emotional/personal development.

It is written AS IF you had already accomplished it (in the present tense). Your LifeVision is first created on paper (or computer) in sections. It is fine-tuned and tweaked until it feels complete as an expression of the "ideal you". (Typically runs between 5-10 pages typed! Now that’s detail!)

FOCUS:
Your LifeVision is then recorded (with Baroque music in the background) using a program on your computer, where it is downloaded onto your iPod (or burned to CD) and listened to daily. The process of listening daily to the ideal life you intend to create is incredibly powerful. It is a cause in motion that literally activates and attracts the things you desire into your life.

Key Elements:
•A word picture of the "ideal you" living your “ideal life".
•Includes the motive for wanting to achieve the details of your vision (Your "WHY")
•Includes the How, Where, and When (the action plan) of specific goals.
•An implementation system for new self-improvement ideas.
•Recorded to super-learning music that can put the brain/mind in Alpha (a meditative state).
I awake and arise at 6:00 am, joyful at facing a day full of opportunity. I look forward to beginning the day. I feel rested and alert and excited to see what the day will bring. I exercise for 45 minutes with my heart rate at 132 for 20 minutes. I choose walking, aerobics, or using the ski machine. When I am walking I feel myself in tune with the tress and breeze; my soul renews as I walk. I happily search for opportunities to walk alone or with Sarah. I enjoy the exercise, feeling my muscles stretching, growing taut, relaxing, and my body growing lean and healthy. My body reacts to exercise by increasing circulation, metabolizing food well, ridding itself of toxins, balancing hormones, and using oxygen well. With each exercise session I feel stronger, healthier, and the exercise becomes easier.

I keep a vision of my ideal self in my mind. I stand tall, with good posture, moving gracefully and with poise. I have energy. My body is firm and well-shaped and I have confidence in how I look. My hair and nails are healthy and well groomed. My body is clean and sweet smelling. I am 5 foot 6 inches and weigh 125 lbs. My eye-hand coordination is excellent and I enjoy playing volleyball, tennis, softball, and group sports. I particularly love to dance. My body responds well to the demands made by my mind as it expresses my feelings and responds to the music. I dance jazz, Latin, and ballroom style. I attract partners in partner dancing because I keep myself well practiced in various dances. I delight in body control and my ability to express myself well through dance. I am in harmony with my body and appreciate its added dimension to my soul. I take good care of my body, giving it 12 glasses of water each day, which efficiently serves my body's needs.

I eat grains, fruits, and vegetables. My body accepts the food easily, using it effectively. I enjoy eating and eat until filled. Because I exercise and eat nutritious foods, my body is increasingly efficient at burning excess fat quickly so that I become more lean and trim. Each day my stomach gets flatter, my legs stronger and more slim, my buns tighter, and my back straighter. My body is limber, lively, strong and works well. It never lets me down.

I enjoy feeling the clothes fall on my increasingly lean body and slither down. I have abundant energy because my body is extremely well conditioned and very well maintained. Every day I feel an increase in stamina. To ensure that I enjoy life to it~Rs fullest, I take extreme care to eat well prepared, nourishing meals. I plan them ahead, always eating 3 meals a day. I make sure that I always eat them at a regular time. I savor the flavor of good foods. I make sure that each meal includes several vegetables and grains. I eat slowly and chew carefully. I enjoy the preparation and anticipation of the coming meal.

I obtain power from righteous living. The ever-growing strength in my spirit causes me to eschew evil. I love being a daughter of Heavenly Father; I have a glow and warmth from that love. I open my heart to feel His approval and appreciation. My high self-esteem comes from my relationship with Him and I tenderly protect that relationship. Each morning at 7:15 I have an hour of meditation and planning time right after I have dressed for the day , I read the scriptures and study guides as I seek for greater understanding. I thoughtfully prepare and then speak with the Lord. I respectfully approach Him and carefully listen to His direction and teachings for me. I tune into His strength and power and add to my own. I speak with the Lord honestly and openly. My prayers are purposeful and meaningful. I have confidence that I understand His directions and trust my ability to respond to His promptings.

I am optimistic. I expect the best. I recognize the value of my time, resources, and energy and wisely make decisions on spending them. I see what steps need to be taken and what resources are needed. I effectively judge the energy required from me and make allocations of my time and resources for that which I want most in life. I master my time so that I handle stress easily. I schedule time carefully and keep the commitments I have made. I choose uplifting and enlightening books, movies, and television programs. I choose to be with people who uplift and enlighten, but learn from everyone I am around. I relax well, even as I go about my daily routine. I am slower to jump to conclusions and calm in a crisis. If I feel stress I recognize it, take time to stretch and rid my body of its effects, close my eyes for a moment, and calm myself.

I am fun to be around~spontaneous, creative, and exciting. I am positive and happy and have an uncanny ability to attract quality people. I enjoy life. That joy is contagious to those around me. I have a rewarding time establishing and maintaining relationships and look forward to spending time with friends, both men and women. People seek to be with me. They sense there are wonderful things in my soul and our bonds grow.
When I meet people I look them in the eyes. I observe good points about each person, mention it when appropriate, and use it to remember that person. I notice their eye-the color, expression, and physical features around them. I key in on their eyes the next time I see them and it reminds me of their names. I use their names at least 3 times in the conversation. I have a great memory for names. I always key my memory by saying, "What is that person's name?" It will come to me in a second.

I sense my capacity to remember growing each day. I use this skill to memorize a scripture, quote, or poem each week. The mental exercise is very rewarding. I am so excited to learn that I stay wide-awake and alert while reading. My mind is focused. I study things and people around me. I notice changes in people and I take note of my environment. I read magazines, books, and newspapers. I read religious information, current events, self-improvement topics, the classics, and much more. I particularly enjoy reading on Sunday when I have time to concentrate and relax. I remember what I read with excellent recall.

I easily grasp new concepts and am stimulated when using my brain to understand, memorize, and find solutions. I am gracious and appreciative. When others are giving or kind, I am responsive and grateful. I graciously accept other's giving to me, but judge well before asking too much of anyone. I acknowledge those who have a part of my life and my personality. I am generous. I constantly surprise people anonymously, receiving great joy from doing so. I am the first to laugh at my own mistakes, trying to help others not to feel self-conscious or ill at ease when they make mistakes.

I make a point of giving honest compliments and praise. I am a good conversationalist. I keep myself well-informed on current events and issues and am able to discuss them intelligently. I have a talent for putting my thoughts into words that express my feelings and ideas. I say what I am thinking and feeling in a concise and interesting way, being diplomatic and tactful. I am honest and real. I tell people how I feel and am true to myself without feeling guilty. I am gentle and kind, but firm when necessary. I recognize when it is important to share from myself. I remember stories and incidents and clean jokes and bring lightness and laughter into conversations. I am entertaining at appropriate times.
I am an active listener. When I am with others, I look them in the eyes. Each person has my undivided attention until other priorities enter in. Then I kindly extricate myself. I invite others to share in such a way that they are comfortable and at ease. They know they can trust me and that I keep confidences.

I give others space to make their own decisions, control their own lives, and encourage them to reach their potential. I am happy to be a sounding board and like the role of cheerleader for their lives. I also allow them to work out their own problems in the way they choose~expressing confidence in their ability to do so. I give others the benefit of the doubt and realize they may have other perspectives. I allow others their weaknesses, focusing instead on their strengths. I expect the best of others but accept what they give. I am appropriately confrontive. If I feel tension in a relationship, I work for resolution so the lines of affection are kept open. I seek feedback from those I respect and avoid being defensive. I am aware of actions that make others feel uncomfortable and clearly evaluate the necessity of those actions in my happiness. When someone offends me I deal with the emotions at that time with the person from whom I took offense.
I feel each day that I am better than the day before, and I am excited at my progress. I love to feel the joy that comes in living in total harmony with my beliefs.
I sing well. My voice is clear and full. It's easy to breathe correctly. I spend time with them, listen to them, and encourage them. When we are together their souls are warmed and they are inspired to believe in themselves.

I thoroughly enjoy my work. I love my clients. When clients meet me, they feel that they can trust me and that I have a great deal of knowledge about my field. They sense respect and warmth from me. I have great insight and understanding of those I meet. I am cordial when clients come in and think empathetically about their needs and feelings. Our relationship is always a positive experience for them. I explain well the information I give and they feel that they can ask questions. I am patient with their need for information and reassurance. They feel comfortable with me. I keep in mind the importance of customer satisfaction. I am wise when deciding which clients to take on and which ones will tax our resources too much. On their return visits to the office, I call them by name, often touch them on the shoulder, and acknowledge their importance to our office.

I arrive at the office at 8:30 am. The first hour is spent in studying, filing, and preparing for the day. At 9:30 I focus on the files that need my attention the most.
My story begins in the fall of 1988. At the time, my husband and I were a few years out of graduate school and living in the Washington D.C. area. Upon graduation, we were optimistic that our future, including our financial future, would be bright and prosperous. However, we were unprepared for the high cost of living in the DC area. That, along with our new student loan payment, and the usual expenses of a young family of 4 nearly put us under. To put it bluntly, we were dying financially! If we needed new tires for our car, or had to make a car insurance payment, it all went on the credit card. New furniture and new clothes were unheard of. After 7 years of marriage, we still couldn’t afford to go on a “date”. Instead, we had friends over to play games and enjoy a treat. Nothing wrong with that, until one time it all came to a head. Our friends wanted a drink of milk with the brownies we had offered them; they came into the kitchen and poured themselves one glass, then another glass, and another, until finally the whole gallon was gone. It wasn’t until they were gone, that I broke down in sobs, knowing we didn’t have enough money to purchase another gallon until the next week. Things had to change!

I desperately began trying to make money-at-home. I tried several different things, from network marketing to piano lessons, but never made more than $300 in any business adventure I pursued.

One day my father called and offered to buy airline tickets for the whole family to come home at Christmas. He said he had 2 new ideas that were so exciting they “kept him up at night” and he wanted to share those when we came home for Christmas. I begged him to tell me then, but he wouldn’t relent, saying I had to wait until Christmas.

Finally, upon arriving at my parents home, I dropped my suitcase in the doorway and said “TELL ME!”. My dad began in a very animated and rambling way, telling how he had hired a “life coach”, created a “Creed” and continued jabbering about how all of his goals were coming to fruition. I’m sure the blank stare on my face told him “I’m not getting this!!!” My only comment was “Dad, you’re too old to play sports!”. After rolling his eyes, he started from the beginning and told me how he had hired Leo Weidner, a former student of Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich to be his “life coach”. Leo was assisting him in writing down all of his goals from all areas of his life in a method that I had never heard of before. (Remember, this was the 80’s! and affirmations were just on their way “in”.) This “creed” was a little like a personal mission statement but written in first person, present tense as if it had already happened! My dad went on to tell me that he had had an incredible experience so far and was accomplished his dreams much faster than he had anticipated. Still, I wasn’t really “getting” what he was saying, and so he resorted to handing me a booklet, that he said would explain it all!

His second “revelation” was a new business idea that a mutual friend had had much success with. When he mentioned this friend had made $30,000 in the month of November, I was all ears! It turned out the business was selling a “Wassail” mix (a hot orange, lemon and spice drink) at craft shows. The mix was packaged in a cute Christmas plaid bag, tied with a bow, gift card and cinnamon stick. They sold for about $5 each and my dad anticipated that I could sell hundreds. Then he made a powerful suggestion that kept me up all night. He said “Why don’t you take this business idea of selling wassail mixes, combine it with this new goal setting method and see what happens to you financially.”

Because I came from a goal-oriented family and New Years was quickly approaching, it was just natural that I would be setting my own 1989 goals very shortly. I decided that I would in fact “TRY” this new totally-off-the-wall Creed!

And so I began. I followed the details in the booklet, writing down my goals in each section of life (spiritual, physical, relationships, emotion, personal development and financial) “as if” I had already accomplished them. It was strange at first, but I quickly got the hang of it. When I got to the financial section, I wrote: “I have a wassail business! In November & December of 1989, I make $20,000. I do this by selling 2000 bags of wassail at 6 craft shows. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 1-3 p.m. in the afternoon, I make the necessary phone calls and preparations to accomplish this task.” Interestingly, at the time I wrote this, I had no idea what was involved in having a “wassail-business”, because it was a brand-new idea to me.

After finishing up with the writing of my creed on a typewriter (no computer!), I was a little taken back that I was instructed in the booklet to record my written creed onto a cassette tape with Baroque music playing in the background! While still shaking my head at this crazy idea, I checked out Baroque music from the library, got our Fisher Price tape recorder and while my two little girls were playing in the other room, I began the task of recording my first-ever LifeVision!. What a nightmare! I was almost finished with the entire recording and the phone rang (so the “ringing sound” was on my recording)….so I turned off the phone and started again. This time I was almost done when one daughter came into the room crying about how her sister had hit her. So I locked the door and started at the beginning once again. This time it was banging on the door about how the sister had hit her again…… all on my recording! It took me approximately 2 hours to record a short 10 minute recording! But finally I had my recorded creed on tape.

It wasn’t many days later that I began to doubt myself. I remember feelings like “Get real Ann, your husband only makes $25,000 and you think you’re going to make $20,000 in a single month! And besides….look at your track record!!!”These thoughts plagued me for a few days until finally I knew I had to change that single word in my creed from $20,000 to $5,000. But the thoughts of having to go through that nightmare for one word didn’t make sense. So I came up with the perfect solution! I would say “$5,000” over the top of my recording each and every time I listened to it. This was being “realistic” without the headache of having to re-record the entire thing. This worked for about 2 weeks.

One day I was driving to the grocery store, supposedly listening to my creed, but I got to the end of the tape and realized that I hadn’t paid any attention to it. I had been day-dreaming and hadn’t focuses on it at all! (I’m sure I was making a mental grocery list instead). I was discouraged and scared, wondering how this would all work if I couldn’t focus on my goals! I found my dad’s booklet and in the back was Leo Weidner’s phone number. I called him and said something like the following: “Hi Leo, you don’t know me from Adam, but my dad is a client, and on my own, I’ve written a creed. After listening to it for several weeks, I’m having trouble focusing and usually become distracted while listening. Do you have any suggestions?”

Leo asked me if I had followed the instruction of recording it to Baroque music in the background. I said that I had. He said…”Good, it doesn’t matter if you’re focusing or not because the super-learning music helps to take it to the subconscious by putting you in the meditative state of Alpha.” (WAY too deep for me!) He assured me that it would work even if I daydreamed! PHEW!

Needless to say, it wasn’t too many days before I stopped saying “$5000” over my $20,000 recorded goal. I continued to listen to my recording daily (at least subconsciously J) for the next 10 months and crazily enough, I made $19,800 in the month of November !!!! Can I just say how thankful I am that I was too lazy to re-record my creed (thereafter to be called a LifeVision).

After this experience, I had to ask myself… “Why did this happen? “What made it work”? I will admit that I didn’t spend the time researching the answer to these questions and the principles behind them. I was just thrilled it had worked and so I spent my time creating bigger and more powerful LifeVisions. I knew it worked, and I wasn’t too concerned at the time of “Why” it worked. The results were enough for me.

………The Rest of the Story.
The next season, with a year's experience under my belt, I was determined to create a much bigger business out of my little "Wassail business". I began the year by creating a new LifeVision that included the financial figure of $100,000. (My husband Scott wanted me to "just add another zero, to the end of last years number"...but $200,000 was a little ambitious for a girl who was still reeling from the $20,000 experience.) Once again, I listened daily to the affirmation of $100,000~ 15,000+bags of wassail to back up that figure. But the Universe had other plans...we got into the wholesale business which threw that figure into the tens of thousands of bags! We became a staple at the Gift Markets and Gourmet Food Shows, selling to over 2,000 stores nationwide. Wow! A simple idea that eventually became a million-dollar idea for our family. Now, 17 years later, we still own and run Old World Specialties, maker of fine gourmet food mixes.

The initial idea stemmed from Leo Weidner who was a student of Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich. Dr. Hill was commissioned by Andrew Carnegie (in the ‘30’s) to conduct a study of America’s most successful men. In his book Achieving the Balance, Leo explains:

“ For 20 years Dr. Hill interviewed, studied, and analyzed the 500 most successful men in the United States including: Henry Ford, Charles Schwab, Theodore Roosevelt, John Rockefeller, and Thomas Edison. One day on a summer morning in 1996, while traveling south along the picturesque Oregon coast Napoleon Hill exclaimed, “Leo! Did you know that these wealthy and successful Americans had one quality in common?” Before I could respond he continued, “I actually discovered seventeen basic principles of success in their lives but only one which almost all of them seemed to have. These seventeen principles were published by Dr. Hill in eight volumes named Laws of Success (1937), then revised in more detail in a four-volume set named Science of Personal Achievement (1964).

“I was a delighted as a young school boy and asked Dr. Hill to tell me the one principle that all of these successful men had in common. He explained that they had committed to paper the goals they wished to accomplish. It became their focus, passion, obsession…the primary vehicle that motivated them to success. Dr. Hill named this statement a person’s “Definite Major Purpose.”

“During the rest of our journey, I was taught by this grandfather of success and motivation. Our Oregon coast ride ended too quickly, but that morning of instruction laid the foundation for my work. Since that memorable visit, I have devoted hundreds of hours in researching and experimenting with the power of the Definite Major Purpose. “

Leo Weidner consequently became the developer of the LifeBalance System. His research substantiated the importance of having a written statement, but he couldn’t find the step-by-step instructions on how to create and write it. After years of additional research and experimentation with the “Definite Major Purpose” he came up with a practical, easy-to understand, step –by step model which he called the “Creed.”

"Man's actions are the picture book of his creed." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Although Leo Weidner was never my personal coach (like mentioned in my story, he was my dad’s life coach), I have worked with him on several occasions. Because my experience with the LifeVision was independent of Leo’s coaching, I had to be my own coach. Consequently, I developed my own unique style in creating my own LifeVisions and then went on to coach clients using my own methods. I have been coaching individuals on writing their own personal LifeVisions since the early ‘90’s and conducting workshops and seminars since 2000.

Together, Leo Weidner and his team of consultants and coaches at LifeBalance Institute and I are trying to spread the word about the LifeVision and LifeCreed as unique and concrete ways of achieving goals and balance in life.

Go into any major bookstore such as Barnes & Noble and you will see there is no shortage of self-improvement books with programs and gurus who claim to have the latest and greatest ideas. And it’s probably not a stretch of the imagination to assume you’ve tried at least one or two of these! But the typical scenario is that even though you were incredibly excited and passionate about what you were reading at the time, within a few weeks you are more or less right back where you started with the same old thoughts, habits and unfulfilled dreams. Over time, you begin to give up your dreams because they aren’t being fulfilled anyway! Life goes on in the same way it always has. So how do we break out of this cynical cycle?

Reason #1
It’s not another Self-Help Program, it’s an implementation system!

Like I just mentioned, there are hundreds of success and self-help titles lining the bookstore shelves. Most are a wealth of knowledge with incredible ideas based on sound principles. And yet most of us are still lacking the results we desire by reading the books. Why? Good ideas are a dime-a-dozen. How to assimilate the ideas, making them a permanent part of our lives is where the gold mine is. It’s all theory until it’s put into practice.

The LifeVision is not another self-help program. It’s an implementation system; taking your goals and ideas and assisting you in their application. From now on any time you read about or want to act upon a new idea or tackle a monumental goal, you will know exactly HOW to convert or implement it into your life. This tool can also be used in overcoming addictions and bad habits.

Reason #2
It’s not a One-Size-Fits-All approach. It’s as unique as you are!

Many self-improvement programs have a tendency to dictate the traits you should seek. They define what success is and push you to implement a one-size fits all approach. But you are unique! You have been blessed by God with special gifts, talents and abilities that are yours alone. You have your own personality, challenges, dreams and desires. Remember, this is about designing your own Ideal Life and therefore this program is as individual and unique as you are.
By creating a LifeVision, you will create your own custom implementation plan designed to take full advantage of your unique gifts, talents and personality.

Reason #3
It’s a tool in assisting you in living a Balanced Life.

What does it mean to have a balanced life? When you take the time to analyze it, every part of your life fits into one or more of five general areas. Our happiness and fulfillment in life are fully dependent upon the quality of these areas. They are:

Spiritual
Physical
Emotional/Personal Development
Relationships (Family/Social)
Financial/Professional

Through this program you will be able to achieve success in any specific area of your life. However, you will also learn how to achieve BALANCE in the process. You will learn how to be simultaneously successful in each of the 5 key areas in your life. The key to a balanced life begins with prioritizing your key areas….putting what matters most at the center! The LifeVision is designed to assist you in achieving specific goals while keeping all other areas of your life in balance.

Reason #4
Focusing Daily on Your Ideal Life and Creating New Beliefs

The LifeVision system puts your “ideal life” on the front burner daily, thus integrating these dreams into your life swiftly and efficiently. By listening to what your “ideal life” looks and feels like daily, you begin taking steps in that direction immediately. Because of the unique recording method, even when daydreaming and not particularly “listening” to your dreams, your subconscious mind still “hears” and responds. Each and every day you are FOCUSING on what you want and the gap between where you currently are and where you want to be narrows.

By listening daily to the type of person you are becoming, your beliefs begin to change. These beliefs, which in turn create habits, begin to give way to new beliefs, thus creating new habits. As a personal example, I was once so shy that I couldn’t even call a babysitter…I begged my husband to do it. But by telling myself through my LifeVision daily that I was a confident and outgoing person, it wasn’t long before I began to believe this about myself, thus becoming that person.

This is literally a tool where you can change your beliefs and actions over a period of time thus reinventing yourself if you so desire.
